75 YEARS OF INNOVATION
| The Macclesfield-based staff of SISIS EQUIPMENT (Macclesfield) LTD raise their glasses to celebrate the company’s 75th anniversary, and to toast the future. SISIS pioneered mechanical aeration and the machine on the right of the photo is one of the earliest models, made in 1938. On the left is the latest in a long line of SISIS innovations, the AER-AID air injection aerator |

| Joint Managing Directors Roger and William Hargreaves get into the spirit of things! |
The realisation in the early 30’s that by putting holes in the ground, the grass grew better was the start of things for SISIS. A simple hand fork and aerators on wheeled hand frames were our first products.
The first SISIS horse-drawn aerator was sold to Doncaster Race Course.
Trulevel Roller incorporating three rollers that follow each other, thus over-riding hollows to give a true surface. Click here for details.
Flat slitting tine introduced.
First Rotorake – 14 ins wide and selling for 48 guineas. The patented contra-rotation principle was developed after much research at the Sports Turf Research Institute.
Contravator/Lospred ICI Plant Protection thought that the Rotorake principle of cutting grooves in the ground could be adapted for re-seeding grass land without ploughing. The idea was extended to sports areas. The Contravator used strong contra-rotating blades to cut the grooves and the Lospred, utilising a system of twin Neoprene rollers, dispensed the seed directly into the grooves with great accuracy. The playing surface was preserved and germination was rapid.
Trulute levelling tool. White City contacted SISIS to help with the maintenance problems they were having with their hard porous running track. It was soon realised that raking and brushing were not enough and an implement to level the surface was developed. Click here for details.
Autocrat SISIS developed the first independently powered, vertical action spiker in the UK.
Truline Developed from an original idea from a Scottish groundsman, the Truline incorporated a continuous belt system to give a clear line, even in poor conditions. Click here for details.
Veemo Fast, effective scarification for fairways. Click here for details.
Hydromain System First comprehensive turf maintenance system designed specifically for use on golf greens and tees. The Hydromain was highly manoeuvrable, with unique weight-transfer system, and operated a wide range of attachments.
Quadraplay It was a natural progression to combine several implements to give a faster work rate. Click here for details
Autospred Independently powered Top dresser with oscillating base plate to reduce “bridging”. Click here for details.
SISIS North America, subsidiary company in USA incorporated. SISIS moves into the grass cutting market with the purchase of the Huxley range of mowers. Click here for details of grass cutting range.
Rotorake 600 Heavy Duty, deep scarifier and linear aerator. Click here for details.
Aer-Aid System Revolutionary vertical action, air-injection aerator. Air is blasted directly into the root zone to speed up the benefits of reduced compaction and healthier growth. Click here for details.
Flexicomb Is it a brush or is it a rake? It’s both! Click here for details.
