SISIS FLEXIBRUSH EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS
“The SISIS Flexibrush exceeded our expectations!” says Matt Shaffer, Director of Golf Operations at The Merion Golf Club in Ardmore PA.
Merion bought the Flexibrush 17ft. 6ins. wide brush in May 2006 and plan to use it on their undulating fairways 4 to 6 times a year.
Matt Shaffer continues, “We wanted it specifically for working-in top dressings and it has more than met our needs. It works the sand into the holes so well that it is easier on the grass than other brushes which require more passes.”
The wide working width ensures a fast work rate, but the outer sections fold for ease of transport, and storage.
Other golf courses have found the SISIS Flexibrush useful for dew dispersal and striping for improved presentation.
Merion Golf Club’s East Course is on most people’s list of favourites. In 1910 designer Hugh Wilson was sent to Scotland to study their best courses. He spent 7 months there sketching features that appealed to him. One mystery that still surrounds his trip is the origin of the wicker flagsticks.
Wilson’s layout for Merion was masterly and as compact as a jigsaw puzzle, with players needing to step just a few yards from each green to the next tee.
The new course was opened on 12th September 1912 and one report of the opening said the course was “among experts, considered the finest inland links in the country”. Now every effort is made to insure that today’s players have the same experience as the champions of old and for that reason the course is maintained as though to hold championships daily.
